The parish council is saddened to announce the death of Councillor Michael Holmes

Eye Parish Council is saddened to announce the death of the chairman of the council, Michael Holmes who passed away in hospital after a short illness on Saturday 30th April.

Michael lived in the village for most of his life and was married to Pauline, together they had brought up their two children in the village. He was the village baker until his retirement and took an active part in the church, often doing the church flowers.

He was an active member of Eye Parish Council and chairman of the council for many years. Micheal was always around the village ready to help in any way he could, supporting whoever needed it and he knew a lot about the village that was not written down.

In 2020 Michael was invited to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party to recognise his long service to the parish. Sadly due to the pandemic this didn’t take place, but nevertheless, he was honoured to have been nominated to attend.

Micheal will be sorely missed by the Parish Council and our sincere condolences go to his wife and family.
