Neighbourhood Policing Road
Safety event
August 2009
2 road safety events were held at the Leeds
hall on Wednesday 12th for 8 - 11
year olds and on Friday the 14th for 4 -7 year olds. These sessions ran
from 10am until midday and were well supported by the children and the
youth of the village. Fun and
games were enjoyed by the local youngsters whilst learning about road
safety.

North East Rural Panel Meeting
The above meeting took place on the 2nd of September 2009 at the
Community
Centre in Eye. I can advise that the following pri orities have been
adopted for the coming months until December.
1. To combat anti social behaviour in the area of Bath Road, High Street
and Little Close in Eye.
2. Tackle speeding on Thorney Road, close to Milking Nook.
3. Tackle speeding on Whittlesey Road and Station Road in Thorney.
4. Deal with mini motos and trial bikes in the area of Wisbech Road and
Thorney Park area.
If you would like to discuss any of the above please do contact us.
A
further Ecops will follow in the next couple of days giving details on
how
you can help us to tackle some of these issues.
Web Safety
We seem to be receiving more and more problems in
relation to threats or bullying on the internet between youngsters at
school. I have looked into this area and have found that many
youngsters are indeed using sites that are not age appropriate.
These include Facebook, Bebo, Myspace. To
be given a profile on such sites, children are required to lie about
their age as the minimum age to access these accounts is 13 or 14 for
Myspace.
In some cases youngsters are giving full names, mobile numbers, email
addresses and indeed adding photos to their profiles. It is obviously
concerning that children are putting themselves in a vulnerable
position.
Please do be vigilant and help us by adhering to internet safety. If
you would like any assistance in this matter please do let us know.
