Parish Council Chairman's Report May 2008
The Chairman thanked everyone for the support he had received throughout the year. He said he was sorry to lose John Bartlett as the Ward Councillor for Eye and everyone agreed. He went on to read a letter from Mr Bartlett thanking everyone and wishing Eye well in the future. He then welcomed the new Ward Councillor Mr Ray Dobbs.
An election had to be held in Eye this year due to boundary changes. Pam Jones retired as a Parish Councillor after 14years. There are three vacancies for Parish Councillors.
The office is open on Wednesday and Friday mornings but the clerk has been undertaking Quality Status Training and has been away some mornings. Mr Gee proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Holmes for his work as the Chairman. All agreed.
The Community Plan for Eye is underway with the assistance of Peterborough City Council. A questionnaire was issued to every household through the Eyescan and this is being analysed by the City Council. Work on the new A1073 has commenced.
The Chairman thanked PCSO Buddle for her work in the village over the year, she is very good and is in the village far more than people realise.
The Community Leadership Fund of £5,000 has been spread so that all age groups do benefit.
Planters were purchased to adorn the High Street.
Improvements continue to be made to the Leeds Hall – new lights in the kitchen and the toilets.
Nearly all the allotments are now let.
Work has been done on the trees in the cemetery, the promised legacy is still being considered.
Quotes have been obtained for rendering the church wall but the accident damage has delayed the project.
